Heavy rain has been pouring down in the Klang Valley for the past few days but the major downpour today has caused a flash flood that affected many areas!
Several areas around the city centre are reportedly experiencing flash floods with water levels as high as 1 – 1.5 meters.
"The five areas are Lebuh Ampang (1.5 meters), Jalan Raja Alang, Kampung Baru (1 meter) and Jalan Gurney Kiri Off Jalan Semarak (1 meter), while there is an overflow of water at Lorong Ayer Leleh and Jalan San Ah Wing,” said Director of the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JBPM) Kuala Lumpur, Nordin Pauzi.
"There were several vehicles submerged in water but no victims were involved in the flood," he said in a statement.
"Until now, monitoring operations are still being carried out at the flood site to ensure the safety of the public passing through the road," he said.
Many Malaysians have been sharing pictures and videos on social media, with one particular picture gaining the attention of Malaysians showing Masjid Jamek looking like an island in the middle of the flash flood.
Heavy traffic was also spotted all over the Klang Valley with cars being stuck on the road for hours due to the high water levels.
We hope everyone is safe and pray for the people who are affected by the flash flood. Stay safe everyone!
