When he was diagnosed with the virus, he was also told that he had leukaemia and an aggressive form of cancer that made him extremely vulnerable to COVID-19. He was also tested for pneumonia.

His condition was initially said to have stabilized but an hour after the president of the Atletico Portada Alta football club was told that he had died, making him the youngest victim in possibly the whole of Europe.

"He was a very good boy and a very good coach. We're still in a state of shock,” said the club’s president, Pepe Bueno. "They called me at 7pm on Sunday saying that he was stabilised after they had admitted him on Friday.”

"And an hour later of the coronavirus and [cancer]... I do not believe it. It seems impossible to me."

Rest in peace, Francisco García.
