The mother-daughter duo we all love is back—along with some unexpected body-swapping chaos! The first trailer for Freakier Friday, the highly anticipated sequel to Disney’s Freaky Friday (2003), has officially dropped, teasing double the swaps, double the laughs, and the return of Chad Michael Murray. The film, starring Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis, is set to hit theaters on August 8.
The trailer, released on March 14, begins with a mysterious fortune teller (played by Saturday Night Live alum Vanessa Bayer) reading Tess (Curtis) and Anna’s (Lohan) palms.
"It’s like they've intersected before," she says ominously. "You've walked in each other’s path. You learned a lesson—a lesson that may serve you again."
As they walk away, they feel an unsettling sensation. Tess tries to brush it off, saying, "I think it’s all in our heads." Spoiler alert: It’s definitely not.
More than two decades after their first switch, Tess and Anna find themselves in yet another body-swap disaster. But this time, Anna’s daughter Harper (Julia Butters) and her soon-to-be stepdaughter Lily (Sophia Hammons) are dragged into the mix, making things even more complicated.
Anna wakes up in Harper’s body and immediately realizes history is repeating itself. Meanwhile, Lily—now stuck in Tess’ body—reacts in horror, gripping her face and shouting, "My face looks like a Birkin bag that’s been left out in the sun to rot!"
Amid the chaos, the trailer also features the return of Chad Michael Murray’s character, Jake, making a grand entrance that’s sure to excite longtime fans.
Jamie Lee Curtis has promised that Freakier Friday will be well worth the wait. Speaking to E! News last September, she teased, “We just had a great shoot on Friday. You guys are going to be very happy.”
So, get ready for more body-swapping fun when Freakier Friday hits the big screen!
