It’s already the second half of 2019 and naturally, the travel bug is starting to kick in—especially when you see people’s travel pictures on your social media feeds. Then you start Whatsapping your BFFs talking about a trip y’all can go to, and they’re like “LET’S DO IT!”
Sydney and New South Wales has everything you’d dream of for a BFF vacation—from the vibrant city of Sydney to the coastal region of Port Stephens. There are plenty of activities you can do, whether you have a thirst for outdoor adventures, or just want to kick back and relax with your pals:
#1 Food hunting at Sydney Fish Market

You’re also gonna love the famous Sydney Rock Oyster with its creamy texture:
Once you’re satisfied from all that seafood, you and your BFFs can visit nearby tourist attractions such as the SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium or even get some shopping done at the Harbourside Shopping Centre.

#2 Get Up Close to Animals at Taronga Zoo
Your visit to Australia isn’t complete without saying hello to the adorable koalas. You can do this at Taronga Zoo, located on the shores of Sydney Harbour and a short ferry ride away from Circular Quay. You can also get up close to these cuties when you join a behind the scenes tour:
The zoo has other animal attractions too, such as gorillas and Sumatran Tigers. You also get to save money on tickets because they’re offering a 20% discount if you purchase it via their website!

#3 Having a Meal in the Sky at the Sydney Tower Buffet
If you’re good with heights, then visit the Sydney Tower the tallest structure in Sydney. Besides enjoying the glorious view of the city from the observation deck, you can also have a meal at its revolving restaurant.
Their lunch buffet consists of more than 50 types of food to choose from! Plus… you get to have this scenery to look at while eating:

#4 Ziplining at TreeTops
Have you ever wanted to swing from one tree to another like Tarzan? You can do it (safely) when you visit TreeTops, located in the Central Coast, a 1.5 hours’ drive north of Sydney. Try out their Crazy Rider rollercoaster zip-lines to glide, twist and turn your way around the trees. Choose from two zip-lines — the 330m long Pioneer and the 1km long Xtreme (the world’s longest roller coaster zip line!).
Visiting with more than 10 people? Then you stand on getting a 10% discount! Check out the ticket prices here so that you can plan out your budget better.
There’s also the TreeTop NetWorld where, instead of ziplining, you’ll be bouncing around high up in the tree tops protected by nets. You’ll also get to play a variety of fun games with big inflatable balls!

#5 Horse-Riding at Glenworth Valley
Another outdoor activity that you and your BFFs can opt for is horse-riding at Glenworth Valley. Located just an hour from north of Sydney, they’re renowned for giving breathtaking and unforgettable experiences with nature to their visitors.
We suggest horse riding as a group activity, as you can enjoy the scenery around you at a leisurely pace. It’s definitely more relaxing than ziplining! If you don’t feel like riding, you can wait for 4.30pm to witness the Running of the Horses—that’s when the handlers release the 200 horses for their evening walk.
If you’re staying there longer, you can choose to try out other activities offered, such as quadbiking, kayaking, abseiling, camping and laser skirmish.

Want more adventurous activities to do? Then you have to try skydiving in Newcastle where you’ll enjoy stunning views as you freefall over the beach. There are photo and video packages available for participants to purchase, so take that brave leap off the plane… and then post it on Instagram to show off your achievements!
Want an alternative view as you’re skydiving? You can choose to skydive in Wollongong, one-hour south of Sydney CBD. If you’re not driving, don’t worry—Skydive provides free transfers to the Wollongong dropzone.

#7 Quad Biking on Stockton Sand Dunes
Think you need to travel all the way to the Middle East to see the desert? Nope! Australia has its own sand dunes, a must-visit spot in Port Stephens is the Stockton Sand Dunes—the largest moving dunes in the Southern Hemisphere.
Instead of camels, you and your friends will love a quad biking experience with Sand Dune Adventures. You can either take one-hour bike tour, or a 1.5-hour one which consists of a tour of the aboriginal culture, sand boarding, and a quad bike tour. We recommend getting the latter to get a mixture of the experiences!

#8 Sunrise Hot Air Ballooning
You can also opt to view the vineyards and rolling hills of the Hunter Valley by getting on a hot air balloon with Balloon Aloft. You’ll get to see mountains, lakes and even wildlife from up above, not to mention a spectacular sunrise over the vast horizon.

#9 Exploring the Blue Mountains
Another must-visit is the Blue Mountains National Park, which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s only a 90-minute drive from Sydney and is the home to the iconic Three Sisters rock formation.
Want to bask in the glorious views of the Blue Mountains? Then head over to Pulpit Rock Lookout. You can easily park your car nearby and watch the sun rise with your friends… and oh, take pictures as well!
Then, take a nature trail at the Grand Canyon Walk. Some parts of the canyon are a little dark, though—so make sure you get there when the sun is out. You may take 3-4 hours and it’s a little bit challenging because of steep steps and walking along creeks. But for those views? Worth it!
