Even though it’s already been almost a week since the final episode of Game of Thrones aired, fans are still not happy with the outcome.
But luckily for them, author, George R.R. Martin says that he’s got another ending up his sleeves for the final two books in the A Song of Ice and Fire series.

After the last episode made its way to our screens, George took to his blog to talk about the ending and to pay tribute to the people behind the series.
The author broke his silence and noted that its been a “wild ride” while giving fans an update about the final two uncompleted books in the series. George has assured fans that the books “will be done” but to not expect the same ending as the HBO series.

George addressed the books’ ending saying, “How will it all end? I hear people asking. The same ending as the show? Different? Well… yes. And no. And yes. And no. And yes. And no. And yes.”
That’s definitely helpful.
The author noted however that instead of the rushed final season we were given by the Game of Thrones showrunners, who had to fit everything into six episodes, he would be able expand the seven kingdoms a lot more.
“I am working in a very different medium than [showrunners] David [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss], never forget,” George wrote. “They had six hours for this final season.”
“I expect these last two books of mine will fill 3,000 manuscript pages between them before I’m done,” he continued. “And if more pages and chapters and scenes are needed, I’ll add them.”

What’s more? George also added that a lot more characters we’ve never seen that would be incorporated into the books’ plots.
“There are characters who never made it onto the screen at all, and others who died in the show but still live in the books,” George said. “So, if nothing else, the readers will learn what happened to Jeyne Poole, Lady Stoneheart, Penny and her pig, Skahaz Shavepate, Arianne Martell, Darkstar, Victarion Greyjoy, Ser Garlan the Gallant, Aegon VI, and a myriad of other characters both great and small that viewers of the show never had the chance to meet.”
“And yes, there will be unicorns… of a sort,” he added.

If fans are still disappointed with the ending after the final two books are released, the author does not really care about what the fans may think.
“I’ll write it. You read it. Then everyone can make up their own mind, and argue about it on the internet,” he said.
