2020 has been quite the year with more bad than good for many of us, but a meteor shower may just help us to make a wish for a better 2021!
The biggest meteor shower of the year is set to appear from 13th to 14th December with up to 150 multicoloured shooting stars per hour!
The Geminids meteor shower is considered one of the most spectacular meteor showers of the year and takes places from 4th to 7th December with its peak on the night between 13 to 14 December 2020.
The meteor shower that’s named after the Gemini constellation, will appear in the sky as a stream of dust and debris left by an asteroid that passes through in yellow, blue, red and green “shooting stars”!
No special equipment is required to view the meteor shower and all you'll need to do is find a clear sky in a secluded spot away from the city lights - it will take 15 to 20 minutes for your eyes to adjust to the dark.
Based on the previous Quadrantis meteor shower, these locations were found to have a clear view to watch a meteor shower:
- Ulu Yam
- Kuala Kubu Bharu
- Kuala Selangor
- Broga Hill
- Kudat
- Kota Belud
- Tanjung Simpang Mengayau
- Pantai Pasir Klebang, Melaka
- Pulau Tioman
- Cameron Highlands
- Pulau Gem
- Pantai Malindo
- Kampung Teluk Pelanduk
Either way make sure you’re comfortable if you’re planning to stay out long and look in the direction of the radiant. Most importantly, be patient!
Share this with your friends and families that you want to view the meteor shower with!
