Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington may have passed away in July 2017 but his voice and lyrics are still helping people out there, especially this girl who recently stopped a man from jumping off a bridge.

A girl named Cristina was recently running late when she decided to take a route that she almost never takes, to work. That’s when she saw a man sitting on the ledge of a bridge.

Cristina said, “I did pass him at first. I saw him. I didn’t really think about stopping. But as I saw him in my rearview, I [thought I] probably should stop, especially since no one else did.”

She decided to stop and walk over to accompany the guy because she’s “been where he was” and “knows what it’s like to stand on the ledge and think that’s your only option.”

“He needed somebody to show that somebody cared… enough to stop. And enough to tell him that he didn’t need to do that today.”

She tried to comfort the man and decided to recite lyrics from Linkin Park’s last single with the late Chester Bennington – "One More Light".

“Who cares if one more light goes out? In a sky of a million stars. Well, I do.”

“One person cares,” Cristina said as the man burst into tears.

Deputy Shaun Cayer then arrived at the scene and realised she was trying to help him and decided to talk to the man and pulled him to safety after he refused to get away from the ledge.

The deputy found out that the man made some bad decisions and let his family down and said, “you got to just keep trying, man. Think of what this is going to do to your Mama if you actually went and hurt yourself.”

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office posted the video and tagged Linkin Park, to which they replied, “Thank you Cristina.”

Netizens were touched by the incident and praised Cristina saying that she definitely #MakeChesterProud.

"One More Light" was originally written about a friend of the band, Amy Zaret, who passed away from cancer. The music video that was released after Chester Bennington’s death shows a compilation of him and their fans.

The music video ends with the text: “you ignited a flame of passion, laughter & courage in our hearts forever. We miss you, brother. – Joe, Mike, Brad, Dave & Rob.”

We definitely miss Chester and we are glad that the songs he left behind help make the world better with stories like Cristina’s.
