National men's doubles pair Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani have risen to the top spot in Malaysia's rankings, overtaking the 2022 World Champions Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik. This shift follows their stellar performance at the 2024 BWF World Tour Finals, where they clinched the runner-up position in Hangzhou, China.
The latest BWF rankings show that Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin have jumped four spots to third place, accumulating a career-high 85,916 points. Their impressive run at the World Tour Finals saw them push Danish duo Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen to three sets before falling 17-21, 21-17, 11-21.
In addition to their World Tour Finals achievement, Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin claimed three titles this season: the Japan Open (Super 750), China Open (Super 1000), and the Arctic Open (Super 500). These victories significantly contributed to their rise in the rankings.
Meanwhile, Astrup-Rasmussen climbed to the top of the world rankings with 95,003 points, replacing Olympic silver medalists Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang of China, who dropped to second place with 93,018 points. Aaron-Wooi Yik, who also earned a bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics, dropped to sixth place with 82,615 points.
In mixed doubles, Malaysia's top pair, Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei, also achieved their career-best ranking, moving to sixth place with 73,940 points after finishing as runners-up in the 2024 BWF World Tour Finals. Another Malaysian mixed pair, Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie, improved their ranking, climbing to seventh from tenth with 71,470 points. The Chinese pair Feng Yan Zhe-Huang Dong Ping remains the world leaders in mixed doubles with 98,700 points.
In men's singles, Lee Zii Jia moved up to sixth place with 79,016 points, improving from his previous eighth-place position. The top spot is still held by China's Shi Yu Qi, the Paris 2024 Olympic gold medalist, with 103,015 points.
In women’s doubles, Pearly Tan-M Thinaah remained in sixth place for the fifth consecutive week with 79,016 points, trailing behind China’s Liu Sheng Shu-Tan Ning, who holds the top spot with 102,746 points.
An Se Young from South Korea continues her dominance in women’s singles with 109,267 points, while Malaysia’s Goh Jin Wei is ranked 43rd with 33,898 points.
