Halle Bailey experienced a heartwarming moment when her 14-month-old son, Halo, recognized her on-screen as Ariel in Disney's live-action The Little Mermaid.
The actress and singer shared the touching clip on X (formerly Twitter), capturing the exact moment her son realized his mom was the beloved mermaid. "Guys, I'm crying. He actually knows Ariel is me," she wrote alongside the video.
Bailey, who welcomed Halo in January 2024 with ex-boyfriend DDG, became a household name for her groundbreaking portrayal of Ariel in the 2023 film. The movie, directed by Rob Marshall, featured a star-studded cast including Javier Bardem as King Triton and Melissa McCarthy as Ursula. It grossed over $560 million worldwide and set streaming records on Disney+.
Beyond her role as Ariel, Bailey starred as a young Nettie in the 2023 remake of The Color Purple, sharing the screen with Fantasia Barrino, Taraji P. Henson, and Colman Domingo. She has also embarked on a solo music career, recently earning her first Grammy nomination for Best R&B Song with her single Angel.
Music clearly runs in the family. Bailey's sister and Chloe x Halle bandmate, Chloe Bailey, recently shared that little Halo already has a passion for music. Speaking at the NAACP Image Awards, she revealed, "He's singing, he's dancing a lot. He's making beats on his kids' beat machine… that's going to be my little mini-producer, my little mini-me."
