We love our pets but some of them go above and beyond to show their love for us.

Like Arthur the cat, who sacrificed himself to save two children from some highly venomous snakes.

The beloved family cat was enjoying some time with his family at their home in Australia when an Eastern Brown Snake entered the garden.

For those who don’t know, the Eastern Brown Snake, often referred to as the common brown snake, is listed as one of Australia’s top 10 most highly venomous snakes.

The domestic shorthair cat was “playing in the backyard with his family, following his two little hoomans around when danger slithered right up to the young children,” a post on the Animal Emergency Service Facebook page read.

“Arthur jumped into action protecting his young family by killing the snake. Unfortunately, in the process, Arthur received a fatal envenomation snake bite.”

“In the chaos of getting the children out of the year, no-one saw the actual bite, but Arthur collapsed and quickly recovered like nothing was wrong not long after,” the post shared.

“Collapse events like this is a common symptom of snake bites, although not a well-known symptom amongst pet owners.”

Arthur’s owners sadly found him collapsed again and unable to get up.

They rushed him to the Animal Emergency Service hospital in Tanawha but unfortunately, the beloved feline’s symptoms were too severe to recover.

The hospital shared that Arthur was a mischievous cat who had visited the emergency service before after getting into accidents.

He was “very much loved” by the hospital’s staff and team who stated that heroes “come in all shapes and sizes”.

Animal lovers everywhere are praising Arthur’s heroic efforts with many calling him “brave” and “precious”.
