You might love taking selfies but posting them on social media might be dangerous now, especially after a stalker managed to track down a Japanese idol just from her selfies.
Japanese idol, Ena Matsuoka - who is a singer from the group Tenshi Tsukinukeni Yomi; was recently assaulted by a stalker that tracked her to her home.
The stalker used Ena’s selfies on social media and enlarged the reflection from her eyes to narrow down the area using Google Street View and stalked her from the train station closest to her home.
The stalker then assaulted her as she entered her apartment after a concert and has since been arrested on charges for causing injury by forcible indecency.
“People should be fully aware that posting pictures and video on social media runs the risk of divulging personal data”, said a police investigator.
So the next time you want to take a selfie, be aware of your surroundings and make sure nothing in your photo reveals your location on social media!
