Many of have been using the cashless technology in recent years, but one Japanese man has gone cashless for over 36 years!
A 71-year-old man from Japan recently became viral because he hasn’t spent any of his own money for the past 36 years and has been surviving on vouchers alone!
He revealed on the Japanese TV show that he had been using vouchers since the age of 35 and exchanged them for everything he needed from daily necessity items to food and even a bicycle!
He said that he had invested in the stock market, and the companies reward the people investors in the form of gift certificates or products to express their gratitude.
The market value of the stocks he invested in have reached around 11.9 million ringgit (300 million yen) and the coupons that he gets every year is enough for him not spend any of his own money!
He has a mountain of commodities from TV sets, refrigerators, water heaters, toilet papers, toothbrushes and more that were all exchanged using his vouchers, making his home look like a “family department store”.
However, he faces some challenges himself when it comes to food because he often want to eat more than the value of the vouchers he has and to avoid paying extra he will choose the meals that are the exact value of his vouchers!
The Japanese TV show crew followed him for a day in his life to see him order his meals with vouchers and uses his bicycle as a mean of transportation.
While an ordinary person’s wallet would be filled with cash and card, his wallet is filled with vouchers instead, making him live for 36 years without needing to spend any money!
Netizens are all impressed with the 71-year-old man’s way of life and others saying they want to invest in Japanese companies for the vouchers too.
