Joe Alwyn appears ready to move forward from his highly publicized relationship with Taylor Swift, which ended in 2023 after six years together.
In a recent interview with The Guardian, the 33-year-old actor was asked whether he feels the need to "move on" from the spotlight surrounding his past romance with the Grammy-winning artist. Alwyn responded, "That's something for other people to do. We’re talking about something that’s a while ago now in my life. So that's for other people. That’s what I feel."
Discussing his current outlook, the Brutalist star shared, "I always feel optimistic at the top of a new year. No, I feel great. I feel lucky to be in a good place."
This isn’t the first time Alwyn has addressed the end of his relationship with Swift, who has since moved on with NFL player Travis Kelce. In an interview with The Sunday Times back in June 2024, Alwyn opened up about the challenges of navigating such a significant breakup in the public eye.
"I would hope that anyone and everyone can empathize and understand the difficulties that come with the end of a long, loving, fully committed relationship of over six and a half years," he said at the time. "That is a hard thing to navigate."
Alwyn also commented on the media frenzy that followed their split, describing it as "unusual and abnormal." He explained, "One week later, it’s suddenly in the public domain and the outside world is able to weigh in. So you have something very real suddenly thrown into a very unreal space: tabloids, social media, press, where it is then dissected, speculated on, pulled out of shape beyond recognition."
Despite the public scrutiny, the British actor said he has made peace with the way their breakup was portrayed. "The truth is, there is always going to be a gap between what is known and what is said. I have made my peace with that," he concluded.
While Alwyn has largely kept his personal life private, his comments reflect a sense of closure and optimism as he looks ahead to the future.
