Kanye West is back at it with the identity updates—and no, this isn’t a throwback to 2018. The artist formerly known as Kanye, then legally changed to Ye, is now apparently going by Ye Ye. Yes, two Ye's. Because one just wasn’t enough.
According to newly filed business docs spotted in California, West’s CFO Hussain Lalani listed "Ye Ye" as the managing figure for several of his companies—including Yeezy Apparel, Yeezy Record Label, and Ox Paha Inc. So if you thought it was hard keeping up with his creative output, try keeping up with his legal names.
Is it legally official? Not yet. California law says you’ve gotta publish your name change in a local newspaper before it goes before a judge, and so far, Ye Ye hasn’t popped up in the classifieds (yet).
But given Ye’s track record—remember when he said “Ye” came from the Bible because it means “you”?—we wouldn’t be surprised if this is all part of another metaphysical reinvention. Back in 2018, he explained the shift from Kanye to Ye as going “from the only one” to a collective “us,” inspired by spiritual energy and self-reflection. (Very Ye.)
Fast forward to today, and the artist is no longer vibing with his @kanyewest X (formerly Twitter) handle either. On May 31, he posted:
“Ima finally stop using the @kanyewest twitter cause my name is Ye. Gonna start a ye account and it is what it is.”
It’s unclear whether @yeye is next—but the energy? Pure rebrand. For the record, Ye shares four kids—North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm—with ex-wife Kim Kardashian, and continues to keep the public guessing with every move, name change, and tweet (or lack thereof).
So… Ye? Ye Ye? Maybe Ye Ye Ye is next?
