Katy Perry is about to embark on a journey beyond Earth—and her fiancé, Orlando Bloom, is fully on board.

The pop star recently revealed how Bloom reacted when she told him about her decision to join Blue Origin’s upcoming space mission. Speaking on SiriusXM’s Hits 1 Morning Mash Up on March 3, Perry shared that she values her fiancé’s opinion and sought his input before committing to the out-of-this-world adventure.
“We respect each other so much,” Perry said of her relationship with Bloom, with whom she shares their 4-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove. “So we want to get input from each other, and he is also all about the journey.”
It didn’t take long for the Lord of the Rings actor—known for his adventurous spirit—to express his support.
“That’s one thing I really, really admire about him,” Perry added. “He’s a seeker.”
While Bloom won’t be accompanying her, Perry will be in great company. The mission, set for this spring, includes journalist Gayle King, former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, and film producer Kerianne Flynn. The all-female team was assembled by Lauren Sánchez, who is also part of the crew.
The mission will take Perry and her fellow astronauts 62 miles above Earth, crossing the Kármán line—the boundary between the planet’s atmosphere and outer space.
For Perry, the opportunity aligns perfectly with her curiosity and passion for discovery.

“I’m just so interested in astrophysics and the engineering of it all,” she said. “I’m humbled, blown away, and excited—I’ve got butterflies! It’s really the theme of my tour.”
For Perry, accepting this mission felt like fate. She explained that her mother has always called her “Feather,” a nickname she has carried since childhood.
“When they asked me to be part of this launch, I researched it,” she recalled. “I opened up a YouTube video, and the capsule had an emblem of a feather. I was like, ‘What other sign do I need? My mother calls me Feather. I was meant to fly.’”
Now, as she prepares for liftoff, Perry is eagerly anticipating the perspective shift that comes with seeing Earth from space.
“I’m so excited for the stories I’ll be able to tell after I see that curvature,” she said.
