Kingdom Hearts Is Reportedly Being Adapted As A TV Series

Ever since the game’s release in 2002, Kingdom Hearts have amassed millions of gamers and fans worldwide, and now the gaming franchise is being adapted into a TV series!

A Kingdom Hearts TV series was recently reported to be destined for a TV show and two reporters just confirmed the news!

Scooper Jeremy Conrad took to Twitter to confirm the news by posting a GIF of Sora, Goofy, and Donald with the caption, “it’s true”!

The DisInsider editor-in-chief also shared information regarding the news and revealed that the series that’s reportedly heading to Disney+ will not be a live-action adaptation, but a CG animated version instead.

Been tagged in Jeremys post (which is true), so here’s what I know:

The news came as a surprise to fans after The Cinema Spot reporter Emre Kaya revealed that game will be adapted into a TV series and is in the works at Disney+.

There is a #KingdomHearts series in the works at Disney+.

Disney originally wanted to make it but that didn't work out, so Square Enix was asked to create a pilot using Unreal Engine.

It was also revealed that Disney wanted to make it but “it didn’t work out” and Square Enix is currently creating the CG animated pilot using Unreal Engine.

Disney voice actors like Jim Cummings, Bill Farmer, Tony Anselmo and others that voiced the characters in the games are expected to reprise their roles, but it’s uncertain whether the same voice actors will be used for original characters like Sora and the Final Fantasy characters.

Fans are excited for the TV series, with some expressing their concern if the series turns out to be live-action instead, with many others joking about how they would have to wait 13 years for a third season, a reference to the game release.

I really hope that’s the case because the Kingdom hearts story needs to be as accessible as possible.

Plus, I realize not everyone has the time to play through 10+ games to experience a story so doing it through a tv series should make it much easier for people.

Will it be an original story or just retelling the story of the games, I wonder? Because I'm down for the former, and alright with the latter, if it's based on the Chi/Unchained/Union Cross end of the franchise. 🤔

The role-playing video game (RPG) series tells the story of a boy named Sora and his adventures after his home-world was destroyed by creatures known as the Heartless and was chosen as a Keyblade wielder.

He meets many characters from classic Disney films and Final Fantasy video game series, with Utada Hikaru’s “Simple and Clean” as the main theme song.

Kingdom Hearts III was released last year after fans waited more than a decade to find out the fate of Sora and his fellow Keyblade wielders.
