Air travel has been hit with challenges ever since the COVID-19 outbreak worldwide but KLIA has managed to be ranked as one of the world's top 10 despite the difficulties!
The KL International Airport (KLIA) has been ranked among the top 10 airports worldwide based on the latest global survey from Airport Service Quality (ASQ)!
ASQ is a programme carried out by the Airports Council International (ACI) and benchmarks the best airports in the world.
KLIA ranked up to the 9th place compared to the 17th place it held in 2019, amongst airports worldwide and has increased their overall score from 4.69 to 4.94 out of 5.00!
The Malaysian airport managed to score a perfect 5.00 for passengers' overall satisfaction from both business and leisure class passengers and scored 4.99 for terminal cleanliness and 4.97 for washrooms availability!
“I am extremely proud of the team for KLIA’s stellar ASQ performance to date this year,” said Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) group chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh.
“Despite challenges arising from new normal requirements in airport operations, the whole airport community displayed a strong spirit of collaboration and came together as one to elevate KLIA’s service performance in the eyes of the world.”
KLIA has been improving its safety measures and ensuring physical distancing markers and other technology like contactless self-check-in kiosks and situational awareness alert for crowd density, are readily available.
“This year, we’re focusing mostly on safety initiatives as part of our efforts to re-instill passenger confidence in air travel,” he said.
“These series of quick-wins have also contributed to the increased satisfaction of passengers, and I'm happy to see that the preliminary ASQ results for KLIA for Q3 show that the overall satisfaction score has increased to 4.96.”
We hope that the pandemic will end quickly and confidence in air travel can be restored soon!
