Most of us Malaysian love eating laksa and the dish was recently featured in Marvel’s X-Men New Mutants!

Malaysians were excited to see laksa mentioned in the New Mutants Issue #10 when one of the mutants cooked the dish in the comic.

In the comic panel, the mutant named Glob was asked about the whereabouts of the New Mutants by another mutant Magik and he was seen cooking the popular Malaysian dish and even asked if she’d like some.

“I was making them laksa for dinner, and now there’s no one here to eat it,” Glob said. We’d love to eat laksa with you Glob.

Marvel also released the recipe for the vegetarian laksa (Glob is vegetarian) on their data page and one of the author said that he actually made the laksa dish on the day the comic was released!

Glob’s recipe consists of ingredients like coconut milk, vegetable broth, and tofu among others but one thing didn’t sit well with Malaysians and it’s the fact that Glob used ramen in the recipe…

Although the recipe did state that you can use whatever type of noodles you want but Twitter poll has users voting against it saying that using ramen in laksa “is a travesty”.

This apparently isn’t the first time Marvel has mentioned the dish. Previously, the infamous X-Men villain Magneto, recommended the dish in an issue of Hunt For Wolverine: Mystery In Madripoor too!

The mutant Jubilee also offered the “lepat pisang” snack to Psylocke in another issue of the same comic. Looks like Marvel loves Malaysian food!

Marvel’s New Mutants has been adapted into a live-action film that has been delayed multiple times since the Fox and Disney acquisition, but is now slated for an August 2020 release!

Maybe we’ll see Anya Taylor-Joy (who plays the character Magik/Illyana Rasputin) try out laksa in the movie too but seeing as how the upcoming series is described as the first X-Men horror movie, we wouldn’t count on it…

What are your thoughts on Marvel mentioning Malaysian food their comics? Let us know if you would try laksa with ramen!
