Even though we are a tropical climate country that never experiences winter, that didn’t stop us from being absolutely proud to see the Jalur Gemilang paraded at the opening ceremony of the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea last Friday.

Our contingent of five is one of the smallest contingents among the 92 countries and almost 3,000 athletes competing at the major international sporting event.

Seeing our Malaysian figure skater Julien Yee parading the Jalur Gemilang with the rest of the team at the opening ceremony definitely gave us all the feels!

Headed by chef-de-mission Datuk Dr Mumtaz Jafaar, the team consisting of two coaches and two athletes, Julien Yee Zhi-Jie and Jeffery Webb are venturing into unchartered territory as they inspire a future generation of Malaysian winter sports athletes!

They’ve definitely made Malaysia proud!
