Ahmad Muhaimin, popularly known as Minbappe, has etched his name in history as the first Malaysian to win the FIFAe World Cup.
Competing in the eFootball Mobile category, Minbappe clinched the championship title after a commanding performance in the final held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He secured a decisive victory against Morocco's AN10_Tienes, winning 3-0 in the first game and 2-0 in the second. His triumph earned him the prestigious world champion title along with a prize of USD20,000 (approximately RM88,000).
Minbappe's journey to the top was nothing short of remarkable. He went undefeated in the group stage, amassing five wins and two draws. Throughout the tournament, he demonstrated exceptional skill and strategy, defeating opponents from Turkey, Poland, Argentina, Morocco, and Portugal, further solidifying his dominance in the eFootball Mobile category. His only draws came against players from Saudi Arabia and Thailand.
The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) took to social media to celebrate his groundbreaking achievement.
"Malaysia is the first country in ASEAN to become champions of this prestigious tournament. Thank you and congratulations, Muhaimin. You've made the country proud," read their post.
Minbappe’s historic win not only marks a milestone for Malaysian esports but also sets a new standard for the region in competitive gaming.
