Malaysia is filled with kids with wonderful talents and with a 15 year old boy recently reported to be taking his PhD in Germany, another group of kids are making the nation proud in Tokyo!
Nine Malaysian primary school students recently represented Malaysia at the World International Mathematical Olympiad (WIMO) and manage to beat 10 other countries and won eight gold and a silver medals!
The team consist of kids as young as 7-years-old and they also brought home two World Champions awards at the competition held in Tokyo, Japan!
Yeoh Yi Shuen, the Primary 2 student from SJK (C) Kwang Hwa and Teoh Zhou Zhe, a Primary 3 student from SJK (C) Min Terk scored top in their respective Year levels and won the World Champions and gold medals!
Alvis Leow Jin Ker, Brandon Choo Sze How, Chai Feng Ze, Hoo Jordan and Hoo Xinyi from SJK (C) Jalan Davidson, and Tang Yi Xuan from SJK (C) Serdang Baru 2 are the other six that won gold along with Cheah Jor Wii from SJK (C) Perempuan China that won a Silver Medal.
Participants’ logical thinking, arithmetic/algebra, number theory, geometry, and combinatorics are tested based on their own grade at the Olympiads.
