Many of us are accustomed to having a gas cylinder in the kitchen to cook and no doubt, many of our parents always tell us to be careful when using it.
A man from Taman Mega Ria, Gambang, Kuantan, however narrowly escaped with his life when the gas cylinder in his kitchen blew up.
Luckily, the 54-year-old was not in the kitchen and alone in his home at the time of the incident as his other family members had gone out.
Taman Tas’ Fire and Rescue Department chief Mohd Hilmi Kashfi Mat Zali shared that the man is believed to have been in his room and was not cooking at the time of the explosion.
“The explosion caused the sliding glass door at the front to shatter and parts of the roof and ceiling of the kitchen and living room had also collapsed,” he said.

The operation involved nine firefighters including the forensics unit who ran a thorough check of the residence to ensure that the situation was safe.
“The man was alone at home while his family members had gone out,” the fire chief noted. “Luckily no one was in the kitchen during the incident.”
The fire department has yet to determine the cause of the explosion but is looking into the possibility of a gas leak and more.
