People always say that sometimes you need to let go of something to get something better, and that might be the case for this man who tried to get his ex back.

A man from China became famous after he decided to use up all his savings to build a “Lovers Island” in order to win back his ex’s heart but was unfortunately rejected.

"Thank you for your sincere dedication. You will find someone better than me,” she said.

He explained that his girlfriend of two years had broken up with him when he moved back to his parents’ hometown to take care of them and decided to spend RM63,000 (£11,000) to transform a patch of land into a love island since last December.

The “Lovers Island” is filled with pink flowers, blooming peach and cherry trees, and he even built a bridge and a swing wrapped in pink blossom petals!

"These flowers are very beautiful, especially the cherry blossoms symbolise pure love. They are all loved by girls,” he said.

His ex-girlfriend, who grew up in Guangzhou, refused to leave the city life, and her family didn’t allow her to live in the countryside, causing them to take their separate paths in life.

"Although I am not good at expressing, I can't speak sweet words, but I wish her a better partner,” the 30-year-old man said.

Despite not winning back the heart of his love, he won the heart of the internet instead and his “Lovers Island” soon became a tourist destination with many couples taking their marriage photoshoots there and even marriage proposals. The island is free to visit.

Many people on the internet are praising him for his act of love and promised him that he will definitely find love again soon.

His efforts to rekindle his love with his ex might have failed but it looks like he created a place where others can find love instead.
