The love between you and your parents is always a bond that is inseparable and one man decided to climb pipelines just to watch over his COVID-19 positive mother.
A 30-year-old Palestinian man went viral after he climbed up to a hospital window and stayed there for hours after his mother was admitted to the hospital due to COVID-19, till the day she passed away.
“He would climb the pipelines so that he can watch over his mother that’s on the second floor of the hospital,” said a hospital guard.
“He would spend most of his days there and monitor his mother’s condition outside the window and only climb down after he’s confident his mother is asleep.”
The man named Jihad Al- Suwaiti ignored warnings from the hospital on the safety issue but he wouldn’t listen to the guards.
“Jihad is the youngest child and is close to mother, especially after our father passed away 15 years ago,” said his brother, Rasmi.
“Mother had leukaemia and was diagnosed with COVID-19 a few weeks ago. When Jihad found out about mother’s death, he was angry and in disbelieve,” he added. “But now he seems to be able to accept the reality.”
Many people were heartbroken to hear his story and someone drew an art tribute showing Jihad sitting by the window… but this time his mother’s spirit was watching over him.
It’s certainly heart breaking to see someone you love being taken away as you watch helplessly, but remember your safety and health is important to support them too.
