Recently, a man from Arizona, USA, took drastic measures to avoid going to work by making up a story of a hidden family treasure hidden in the desert and faking his own kidnapping as a result.
Police arrested Brandon Soules on charges of false reporting to the police after he pleaded guilty to faking his own kidnapping.
The 19-year-old’s deception began when police officers responded to a call about an injured man who was lying near a water tower in Coolidge city outside of Phoenix.
Police found the man with his hands tied behind his back with a belt and a bandana stuffed in his mouth.
Brandon told the authorities that after running an errand that morning, he was abducted near his home by two masked men who hit him on the back of the head and knocked him unconscious.
The abductors reportedly drove him a round for some time before leaving him near the water tower where he was found.

According to the 19-year-old, he was kidnapped because his father had left him a huge amount of money that was hidden somewhere in the desert.
Detectives however felt that something was amiss. They continued their investigation to match the evidence to the “victim’s” statement by reviewing surveillance footage of the area, scouring his phone for more details and interviewing people.
Eventually, the police concluded that there was no evidence to corroborate Brandon’s story.
“An extensive investigation was conducted by Coolidge detectives and evidence was discovered showing his story was fabricated and no kidnapping or assault occurred,” the police said.
