Sometimes we brush off things that happened to us lightly because it happens all the time but one man lost his finger after getting pricked from washing prawns!
Someone recently shared an incident that happened to his friend after he was infected with a flesh-eating bacteria after being pricked by a prawn he was cleaning.
“I have been pricked many times before and thought this was no difference. After 1 day, finger turned black and was running a mild fever,” the post said.
The man went to the clinic and was told to go to the emergency department at the hospital immediately. He then had surgery to amputate his finger and stayed in the hospital for seven days, two in the ICU.
“Was told I was attacked by a fresh eating bacteria. Doctor said if i had waited for another one more day I may have lost my arm or perhaps pass on.”
He also asked others to be careful when handling raw seafood and to warn their family members too.
“Seems bacteria had already gone to my armpit and progressing to others parts of my body. Well, tell your family members to be very careful when cleaning raw prawns or seafood."
Many netizens were shocked from the man’s incident with many asking their friends and family to wear gloves when they clean seafood in the future.
It’s definitely something unexpected to have happened to the guy but luckily he was treated in time.
