Miley Cyrus’ family recently sparked conversation with what seemed like a subtle jab at her ex-husband, Liam Hemsworth. During an episode of their Sorry We’re Stoned podcast, Tish Cyrus and her eldest daughter, Brandi Cyrus, shared their thoughts on relationships—particularly Brandi’s new Australian boyfriend, Matt.
“Men are trash,” Brandi joked after praising her new partner. “They’re all just garbage. Men are just so f--king dense, but there are a couple of good ones out there, I guess. And I think I’ve found one, so we love that for me.”
Tish, 57, wholeheartedly agreed, adding, “I have my hopes up for Matt. He’s Australian. I’m not gonna rag on American men, but Australian men are just different.”
That’s when Brandi, 37, chimed in with a sly remark: “Well, not all of them.”
Tish, catching the subtle dig, laughed and responded, “Oh, that’s true.” The duo burst into laughter before Tish quickly redirected the conversation, saying, “Moving on from that subject.”
Naturally, listeners of the podcast—whom Tish and Brandi picked up on the veiled reference to Miley’s ex-husband, Australian actor Liam Hemsworth. One fan commented on YouTube, “The way they called out Liam Hemsworth,” punctuating their reaction with laughing emojis.
Although Tish and Brandi have never publicly spoken negatively about Liam, Miley has been open about the challenges she faced during their brief marriage from 2018 to 2020.
“There’s an idea that during the Younger Now era, I was pure,” Miley told Rolling Stone in 2020. “‘She’s got a man. She’s living in a house playing wife.’ Dude, I was way more off my path at that time than at any other time when my sanity was being questioned.”
Reflecting on her time with Liam, the “Flowers” singer admitted, “I learned a lot about what I can and cannot be for someone else and what I can and cannot accept for myself.”
Now 32, Miley has moved on and has been dating musician Maxx Morando since 2021, while continuing to reflect on personal growth and self-discovery after her tumultuous relationship with Liam.
