Miley Cyrus Sings The Climb After Fans Mistake Film Premiere for a Concert

Apparently they were unaware they were at a film festival.

Well, that escalated quickly. What started as a classy film premiere turned into an impromptu karaoke session when Miley Cyrus was ambushed by fans who showed up expecting a full-blown concert — at the Tribeca Film Festival, no less.

On Friday night, Cyrus arrived at New York’s Beacon Theatre to unveil Something Beautiful, the visual companion to her latest album of the same name. The event was supposed to be a chill evening: screening a film, hosting a thoughtful Q&A with her creative team, sipping sparkling water. You know — film stuff.

But many fans in the crowd were having none of it.

Instead of thoughtful questions about cinematography or artistic intention, Cyrus was met with chants and shouts of “Sing!” and “We paid $800 for this!” One especially determined voice demanded, “Sing The Climb!”, referring to her iconic 2009 ballad from Hannah Montana: The Movie.

Caught off guard but clearly seasoned in handling public chaos, Cyrus coolly replied, “You have to start it.” Then — plot twist — she did it. A cappella. No band, no mic, no backup dancers. Just Miley, belting out The Climb to an overzealous crowd who instantly joined in like it was a stadium show, not a film festival.

It was unplanned, awkward, and surprisingly heartwarming.

Unfortunately, reps for Cyrus and Tribeca didn’t respond to requests for comment — probably because they’re still recovering from the collective whiplash.

Online, fans were split. Some defended Cyrus and slammed the hecklers for being rude and entitled. “They thought Tribeca was a concert?” one baffled user posted. Another said, “She handled that with more grace than I ever could. Legend.”

Others who were part of the shouting crowd claimed they had been misled by ticket resale sites. One screenshot from VividSeats promoted the event as “Miley Cyrus & 2025 Endless Summer Vacation Tour,” which, to be clear, does not exist.

Cyrus herself has addressed the lack of a tour. In an earlier interview with Zane Lowe, she said Something Beautiful was her way of bringing the album to fans without hitting the road. Originally, she dreamed of performing in forests and ancient pyramids — until Harrison Ford, yes that Harrison Ford, offered some blunt advice: “Looks expensive.”

And so, here we are. Miley stayed out of the forest, into the theater, and still somehow ended up doing a mini concert — all because a few very committed fans couldn’t read the fine print.

Moral of the story? Always check if your $800 ticket is for a concert or a film. And maybe don’t yell at Miley Cyrus. She might actually sing — and make the best of it.
