After weeks of being stuck at home and countless news on the CMCO, most of us are fully aware of how important it is to follow the guidelines given to prevent the spread of COVID-19, but many Malaysians are still seen gathering in crowds.

In several posts across social media, many netizens are sharing photos of Malaysians overcrowding places in malls and grocery stores without following proper social distancing rules.

Despite the government’s countless efforts to remind the public to stay at home if no important business is required outside, many Malaysians seem to think the Conditional Movement Control Order means that they can go out whenever and do whatever they want.

People were spotted queuing outside various shops in Mid Valley Megamall waiting for their turn to purchase or enter the shops.

Overcrowded situations in a grocery shop in Kuchai Lama also surfaced online with people eagerly queuing up to enter.

Massive crowds were also seen in a parking lot, waiting to enter a shopping mall in Taman Desa Tebrau, Johor Bahru.

“It surprised me that people are not practicing social distancing while waiting for their turn to get their temperatures checked. There were also no lines on the floor to guide customers,” said a person that claimed to be at the mall that time.

An operations manager at the mall reportedly said that they will improve security measures and ensure that staff and security guards follow the SOP implemented by the government.

Many netizens are angry and disappointed over the actions of these Malaysians and afraid that it might cause another cluster case if the situation continues.

A previous viral incident occurred in Kenanga Wholesale City where people were seen overcrowding and queuing outside the mall, but what was thought initially to be shoppers turned out to be workers that were waiting to enter the mall and report for duty.

Have you seen any overcrowding situations in your area? Make sure you only leave the house and go out if it’s absolutely necessary and share this to make sure your friends and family do the same!
