Now, our very own Penang Island has gained international recognition once again, this time as one of the world’s best islands to retire in!

For many of us, retirement seems like a long way away but if you’re already thinking about where you’d spend your time after your career comes to an end, you need not look further than our very own Pearl of the Orient.
Travel Awaits recently released their list of the “15 Best Islands in the World to Retire On In 2021” and unsurprisingly, Penang has made it in the top three.
With its delicious food, beautiful scenery and more, the island meets many of the criteria listed in the article’s requirement of living a “simpler, more peaceful life -- without breaking the bank”.

Penang comes in third on the best islands to retire on list, just after Malta and Mallorca, Spain.

The list that was created by “in-the-know professionals”, described Penang as ideal for those who are eager to travel in retirement as “having Penang as your home base makes it easy to fly to many other countries in Southeast Asia.”
“This island also appeals to foodies, with its plethora of food stalls, prominently found in the main city, George Town, as well as adventurers who like to hike, dive, and snorkel,” the website reads.

It’s definitely great to see Penang being internationally recognized as a top retirement location and tbh, we can see its appeal, especially with all that good food and beautiful beaches!
