Known as the "Pearl of the Orient," Penang has added another accolade to its reputation by being featured as one of Lonely Planet's must-visit destinations in Southeast Asia.
In the article titled “7 of the Best Places to Visit in Southeast Asia,” Lonely Planet celebrated Penang for its rich history and multicultural charm, reflected through its diverse food scene, architectural beauty, and vibrant traditions.
George Town, Penang’s capital city, received special recognition for balancing its heritage preservation with modern tourism.
“In just one city, you can tour Chinese clan houses, mosques, Hindu temples, and British colonial buildings,” the article noted.
Beyond George Town, Lonely Planet highlighted Penang National Park for its stunning beaches and jungle trails.
