Many of us grew up watching or playing Pokémon and if you’re a fan, you would know that some Pokémon’s backstory is nothing short of a nightmare… and now there’s a new addition!
The Pokémon Company recently revealed the long-awaited final evolution of Galarian Slowpoke - after it was first revealed in January… and it’s actually really messed up.
The newest addition to the Slowpoke family is a Poison/Psychic-type Pokémon but unlike the previous Slowpoke evolutions, this one is basically a parasite controlled zombie!
“A Shellder bite set off a reaction between the chemicals secreted by Galarian Slowpoke’s brain and the spices inside its body, causing Slowpoke to gain the Poison type as it evolved into Galarian Slowking,” the official Pokémon website wrote.
“The Shellder’s intelligence also skyrocketed, giving the Shellder psychic powers that put other Psychic-type Pokémon to shame.”
If that’s not creepy enough, the Shellder-controlled Slowking also utters “incantations in order to communicate with each other. They also appear to chant mysterious spells when using moves in battle. Exactly what these Slowking are saying has yet to be fully understood.”
So Shellder is literally controlling the Slowpoke with its teeth sunken into its head, blinding it in the process. Nope.
Fans have been sharing how they feel about the new Pokémon evolution with many feeling sorry for it and others thinking that its backstory is not as bad as many other Pokémon.
Other messed up backstories includes Cubone wearing the bone mask of its deceased mother, Mimikyu’s true form that was so scary it had to hide under a rag, and a scholar also died from the shock of seeing its true form.
