The popular mobile game app’s maker, Niantic, recently announced in a statement that they aim to host the most coordinated cleanup event in a 48-hour period.
These cleanup events encourage people to gather in public spaces on 22 April 2018 (Earth Day) and will involve the game’s players teaming up to pick up trash and clean up designated public areas.

All trainers will receive access to a special avatar item to celebrate Earth Day and those who participate in the cleanups around the world will unlock unique in-game rewards for the entire world. The more people participating in a team will result in more in-game rewards.

Seeing as there have been issues in the past regarding other Pokemon GO fests or extensive IRL meet ups, is nice to know Niantic is putting emphasis on the environment for Earth Day.

There will be 37 events spread out across 12 countries that focus on 10 partnering organizations. For more info about locations and partnerships, Trainers can visit the Pokemon Go Live website.
