You see how AirAsia is now flying to Port Blair? Very interesting. You see how we can now travel directly there? Very mindful. You see how we’re already planning our next vacay? Very cutesy.

But first—Port Blair, who she?

Port Blair is the capital of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and is sat at the northeastern Indian Ocean. It’s also the main gateway to the beautiful islands that lie ahead.

So, what kinda vacay can I expect in Port Blair?

#1 Get your history fix

Historic landmarks may not be that girl, but these ones slap!

At Port Blair, you’ll lurvee the infamous Cellular Jail, also known as Kala Pani. Tbf, this jail was used by the Brits to exile political prisoners and was an important part of India’s struggle for independence. It’s a memorial/national museum today, and even has a beautiful light and sound show in the evenings!

Besides that, you can also stop by Ross Island (a 15-minute ferry ride from Port Blair) to visit British colonial architecture that includes a bakery, church, and British officer’s club.

Another attraction that’s a cool check-out is the Naval Marine Museum (Samudrika). Take a scroll along its walkways as you learn more about the history of the Andaman people, archeology, marine life, and then some.

A MUST-GO of course, is the Aberdeen Bazaar, where you’ll not only find the best street food, but also the cayootest souvenirs!
