Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup have dedicated their lives to fighting crime and the forces of evil... and now, they're all grown up!
A new live-action series based on the original Cartoon Network animated series, The Powerpuff Girls, is officially in the works!
The live-action adaptation will reportedly feature grown up versions of the crime-fighting kindergarten-aged trio, with Heather Regnier, Diablo Cody, Warner Bros. TV and Berlanti Productions helming the project.
“The Powerpuff Girls used to be America’s pint-sized superheroes,” Deadline reported.
“Now they’re disillusioned twentysomethings who resent having lost their childhood to crime fighting. Will they agree to reunite now that the world needs them more than ever?”
The original series created by Craig McCracken aired back in 1998 and follows the story of the superpowered girls who were accidentally created after Professor Utonium mixed sugar, spice and everything nice with the mysterious Chemical X.
Fans of the animated series are having mixed reactions to the news with many feeling excited for the series while others are afraid that the show would turn out to be bad and “just turn into some angsty teen drama”.
Others just want to hear the iconic theme song in the live-action series.
What are your thoughts on the upcoming series? Let us know!
