Many of us grew up reading comics and unfortunately, the publisher for the Old Master Q comics, also known as “Lao Fu Zhi” has recently passed away.
The publisher of the comics, Wu Zhong Xing was recently confirmed to have died at the age of 98.
The publisher and the comic series creator, Alfonso Wong Kar Hei, worked together for over 40 years.
“For many years Mr. Wu read and appreciated Mr. Alfonso Wong's comics in the Sing Tao Evening News during the 1950s,” the caption to the Old Master Q comics’ post read.
“He found them funny and loved the drawing style and Qing Dynasty garb that Master Q wore. In 1964 he established a publishing partnership with Mr. Wong and sold out the first 6,000 copies of Old Master Q Comics within the first two days.”
“This collaboration lasted over 40 years and has helped to launch the comics to its wildly popular status it has today.”
Fans of the comic series mourned the death of creator of the comics, Alfonso Wong back in 2017, and his son Joseph Wong was reported to continue his drawing legacy.
Now fans are mourning the death of the publisher who passed away on 6th April.
Rest in peace, Mr. Wu Zhong Xing. Thank you for making our childhood and may the comics continue to reach greater heights in the future!
