Ralph Fiennes, the actor who brought Lord Voldemort to life in the Harry Potter film series, has shared his thoughts on who should take over the role in the upcoming television adaptation. His top pick? Cillian Murphy.
Appearing on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on December 2, Fiennes responded enthusiastically to a fan's suggestion of the Peaky Blinders star for the role. "Cillian is a fantastic actor," Fiennes said. "I actually think that's a wonderful, wonderful suggestion. I would be all in favor of Cillian."

The new Harry Potter TV series, set to premiere on Max in 2026, is expected to retell the original story with a fresh cast, leaving fans speculating about who will take on iconic roles like the Dark Lord.
Fiennes, now 61, originally portrayed Voldemort in five of the eight Harry Potter films, starting with Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in 2005 and concluding with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 in 2011. Despite his memorable performance, he has admitted that he wasn’t initially enthusiastic about taking the role.
Though Fiennes has expressed interest in reprising Voldemort if given the opportunity, the future of the character now lies in the hands of the new series' creators—and possibly in Cillian Murphy’s.
