Fruits from South East Asia have been getting a lot of attention this year, with the west calling rambutan and alien fruit, cutting jackfruits like watermelon… and now THIS.

A guy named Gavin Smith recently posted a video on TikTok of how he attempted to peel/open a rambutan.

But instead of searching for the right way to open it online, he decided to go his way by using a potato peeler to shave off the hairy exterior and proceeding to cut it in half with a knife. The audacity.

And in a follow-up video, he seemingly figured out how to open it by slicing the rambutan open and popping it out.. but threw the whole thing in this mouth and ate it with the seed??

If it's any consolation, he actually said the that he likes the taste of the fruit - after saying that it looks like an alien fruit.

The video went viral after a Twitter user posted the video and many Southeast Asian users were not okay with it.

The same user also posted another video from Gavin eating longan and he actually opened it right this time, but called it a berry in his caption.

Are you okay with the way rambutan was handled in the video? Let us know your thoughts!
