There is no one more suited to play Tony Stark other than Robert Downey Jr. and if you’re still hoping to see him return as Iron Man in the future, well we’ve got sad news for you.
RDJ recently confirmed that he will never return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, saying that he’s “all done” with Marvel.
The news was confirmed in a podcast that was hosted by Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett via Comicbook.com which RDJ made an appearance on.
“I'm assuming that the Marvel thing is at a slower speed now... or you're done with that now?", Jason asked.
RDJ replied, "That's all done."
RDJ previously revealed in January that “anything could happen” after he was asked if there was a chance he would make a comeback, but his latest statement seems to have shut down fans’ hope of seeing him back in future MCU films.
We however may have not seen the last of RDJ as Tony Stark in the MCU just yet (even after his Endgame death). A previous leak suggested that he will make his final appearance in the upcoming Black Widow movie!
The leak described a scene that takes place between Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, where Tony tells Natasha Romanoff to go on the run.
Some rumours also speculate that the scene is a deleted scene from Captain America: Civil War and will be shown in the Black Widow solo film.
Fans are heartbroken over the latest response given by RDJ, with others saying Tony Stark’s story should definitively end at Avengers: Endgame.
Are you sad that Robert Downey Jr. will never return as Iron Man anymore? Let us know your thoughts!
