Sometimes we can’t take care of our pets when we go traveling and have to ask our neighbors or family members for help. This girl trusted her roommate, but it turned out to be a huge mistake…
This girl was travelling in Thailand and decided to take a look at the live CCTV footage of her home in China when she witnessed her roommate abusing her cat for over an hour. She could only watch helplessly.
The video shows her cat named Mian Mian, chased, beaten and kicked by her roommate for over an hour and Dong was allegedly punishing the cat for urinating on her bed.
Her roommate named Dong, also squeezed Mian Mian’s neck and lifted the cat for over three minutes “for fun”.
She tried to call her roommate multiple times but she refused to pick up, and the owner had no choice but to cry helplessly looking at the live footage.
The owner revealed that Dong agreed to live with her cat when she moved in and even said that she would look after the cat while the she travelled.
After the clips went viral on social media, the roommate was reprimanded by her university (Hong Kong University of Science and Technology) and the company (Tencent) that she was interning in vowed to terminate her contract.
The clips created an uproar on social media, with netizens pointing out how the roommate was laughing while abusing the distressed cat and one saying, “I just want to cry. I have been raising cats. This cat’s voice is already too painful to hear.”
The roommate has since apologized over her actions and offered to cover the cat’s medical bills but will not face charges since China has no laws on animal cruelty.
The cat owner said that the two-year-old Mian Mian got so skinny to the point where it looked like it was only six months old.
