Sabrina Carpenter is officially entering a new chapter. The pop star announced on June 11 that her seventh studio album, Man’s Best Friend, will be released on August 29, 2025 — a surprise reveal that has already sparked conversation.

Alongside the announcement, Carpenter shared the album cover, which features her on hands and knees in a black mini dress and heels as a man’s hand, cropped from the frame, grips her hair. The visual is provocative and unapologetically playful — a clear signal that she’s pushing into bolder territory. “I can’t wait for it to be yours,” she wrote in the caption, keeping the details minimal but the tone confident.

The album follows 2024’s Short n’ Sweet, which debuted to strong reviews and commercial success. If that project marked her polished arrival, Man’s Best Friend appears to be the evolution — grittier, wittier, and more self-aware. Its lead single, “Manchild,” released on June 5, sets the tone with biting lyrics and production that leans into late-summer anthem territory.

Carpenter co-wrote the track with Jack Antonoff and Amy Allen, describing it as the product of a spontaneous writing session that turned into something memorable. “It ended up being the best random Tuesday of my life,” she said in a behind-the-scenes post. “It became something I can look back on that will score the mental montage to the very confusing and fun young adult years of life.”

She described the song as having the feel of a “loving eye roll,” adding that it captures the chaos and humor of navigating early adulthood. “It feels like a never-ending road trip in the summer,” she wrote. “Hence why I wanted to give it to you now — so you can stick your head out the car window and scream it all summer long.”

While she hasn’t explicitly named the inspiration behind “Manchild,” the timing aligns with her public breakup from actor Barry Keoghan. The two were linked for much of 2024 before quietly going their separate ways. Fans have speculated, but Carpenter keeps the message focused on the music and the moment.

With Man’s Best Friend, Sabrina Carpenter isn’t just dropping an album — she’s stepping fully into her voice as a pop provocateur. The title alone hints at dual meanings, and if the visuals and lead single are any indication, the record will blend her signature charm with sharper edges and deeper intent.
