Schools have been closed off for almost three months since the COVID-19 outbreak in Malaysia but it’s reopening soon!
Education Minister Radzi Jidin announced that schools will reopen for form five and six students with major government examinations, on June 24 (Wednesday) with proper guidelines.
All secondary schools will reopen for SPM, SVM, STPM and STAM students nationwide and will involve 500,444 students from 2,440 schools and a few hundred international schools for the major examinations.
Students living in hostels will be allowed to go back to their dormitories for those that are involved in the major examinations.
JPN and PPD will also be making random spot checks at schools to ensure the SOPs are being followed.
The decision came after taking the advice from the Ministry of Health and National Security Council and stressed that students and teachers must adhere to the SOPs provided to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The Ministry of Education also announced that schools will be reopening in stages and that other students will continue to study from home in the meantime.
He added that “the guidelines will be updated from time to time based on the advice from the health ministry” and that sport activities and school assemblies are still not allowed.
The Education Ministry previously revealed the guidelines and SOPs for schools reopening after a few dry runs at selected schools conducted by the officials.
