Selena Gomez is ready to embrace love with her fiancé, Benny Blanco, after a journey of self-reflection and growth. In an exclusive interview with Interview magazine, the singer and producer opened up about their relationship, how they met, and her engagement ring.
Gomez, 32, shared that her connection with Blanco, 36, has taught her the importance of feeling valued and respected. "I feel seen, I feel respected. That’s all I’ve ever really wanted," she said. Reflecting on her time before they got together, Gomez revealed that she spent five years on her own, which helped her appreciate someone like Blanco even more.
She also acknowledged that, a decade ago, she wouldn't have been able to accept the kind of unconditional love that Blanco offers. “I wasn’t in a space in my life where I could have accepted the kind of patience, the kind of unconditional love that he gives me,” she admitted.
Blanco, known for his lighthearted nature, has been praised by Gomez for his unwavering support. In a November 2024 Instagram post, she expressed her gratitude: "Not only do you love me unconditionally... You always get me my Taco Bell Mexican pizza."
The couple, who first met in 2013 through Gomez’s mother, Mandy Teefey, began dating in 2023 and announced their engagement in December 2024. They’re also gearing up for a musical collaboration, with their joint album I Said I Love You First releasing on March 21, 2025.
In celebration of their first Valentine's Day as an engaged couple, Blanco surprised Gomez with a quirky, cheese-filled proposal. Blanco filled their bathtub with queso cheese and arranged tortilla chips to create a playful "I [heart] you" message. Gomez couldn't help but share her joy in the comments: “I love everything about this..”
