Selena Gomez finally got her prom night—and it was every bit as adorable and over-the-top as you'd hope.
Benny Blanco, 37, recently shared that he threw a prom-themed party for his fiancée, Selena, after finding out she never attended her high school dance. Now, the couple is taking it to the next level with a hilariously sweet mall photoshoot, complete with all the cheesy glamour shots you’d expect.
In an April 24 Instagram video captioned simply “wow,” Blanco revealed their photo session at a mall studio, soundtracked by the romantic classic “Just the Two of Us.” “My fiancée has never been to prom before... so I asked her if we should take prom photos together at a mall... she said yes!” he wrote, even noting he rented a limo to mark the special night.
Selena, 32, rocked a purple high-low prom dress, pairing it with black tights, boots, and a dramatic fur-trimmed coat. Benny kept it classic in a tuxedo and bowtie. The two arrived at the mall in full sweats to disguise their outfits, then did a quick change before striking dramatic poses in front of a lavender backdrop with a pedestal prop.
“It was more fun than either of us expected it to be,” Blanco added, sharing behind-the-scenes moments and the final posed shots that had fans swooning.
One fan gushed, “Can all men take notes please?” while another dubbed Blanco “the greenest flag to ever be flown!!!” Someone else joked, “Did u come straight out of a romance novel or what?”
Blanco first revealed the prom surprise on The Jennifer Hudson Show earlier this month, explaining that his March birthday celebration doubled as a chance for Selena to experience prom. “Selena had never been to a prom before, so I thought I’d throw us a prom for my birthday,” he said, adding, “Honestly, my favorite prom was with my partner.”
Gomez, he shared, was adorably anxious about the big night. “She was like, ‘What am I supposed to wear? What am I supposed to do?!’ It was like she was really going to prom,” he recalled. And yes—he did get her a corsage.
