The game isn’t over yet, Sherlock fans.
After the end of season four, Sherlock seemed to ended permanently. However, the series creators, Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat have said otherwise.

As Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, who play Sherlock Holmes and John Watson respectively, have had heavy schedules, the series has been put on a hiatus. Benedict is off saving the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Martin Freeman is currently on stage in the West End.
But according to Steven on Radio Times, “We’ve never said necessarily goodbye to Sherlock. No, we’ll see!”

Now, both Mark and Steven are hard at work reinventing a series based on the Dracula mythology. So unfortunately we won’t be seeing a season five of Sherlock anytime soon.
“One thing at a time,” Mark said. “Dracula occupies a lot of headspace.”

“It is actually 10 years since the pilot,” Mark continued. “10 years! So in a way, it does bring back memories. But it brings back more fresh, recent memories of pain and horror.”
It just brings back memories of the really late bits of Sherlock!” Steven joked.
We’ll be here patiently waiting for season five of Sherlock. Patiently.
