Why the name ‘Bluetooth’?

The name ‘Bluetooth’ is named after Harald “Bluetooth” Gormsson, a tenth-century king of Denmark and Norway. King Harald is known for his ability to get people to work together. Do you see where we’re going with this?
King Harald “Bluetooth” Gormsson gets people to work together, and the Bluetooth feature on your phone gets other devices to work together with your phone! Pretty clever naming if you ask us.
Why the name Wi-Fi?

Short for Wireless Fidelity, Wi-Fi is originally coined as a pun upon the word hi-fi and is meant to be catchier than its ‘scientific’ name: IEEE 802.11b Direct Sequence. We’re glad it was renamed to Wi-Fi, can you imagine asking for the IEEE 802.11b Direct Sequence password at cafés?
Why are Android operating systems named after desserts?

If you’re an Android user than you’ll no doubt have wondered why Google names their Android OS after desserts. An “official” statement released by Google said that “since these devices make our lives so sweet, each Android version is named after a dessert”.
In case you didn’t already notice, each version of the Android OS is named after a dessert in alphabetical order beginning with Cupcake (v1.5) to the latest version code named Oreo (v8.0 – v8.1). Next alphabet up is “p” and we’re thinking it might be “Popsicle”.
Why are Megabytes and Gigabytes called Megabytes and Gigabytes?

No, they weren’t named randomly by someone who wanted a name that sounds big and fancy. “Mega” and “Giga” are actually units of measurement prefixes in the International System of Units. “Mega” denotes the factor of 1 million (1 Megabyte equals 1 million bytes) while “Giga” denotes the factor of 1 billion (1 Gigabyte equals 1 billion bytes).
