Many petitions have been going around for many different movies and TV series, like the one to bring Tony Stark back to the MCU and the one to have Keanu Reeves play the next Wolverine.
Another petition that made its way around, was the one to remake the final season of Game of Thrones. But this petition actually reached its goal, sort of.

Five episodes into season eight of GoT and fans were not happy with the way that the series final was playing out. Many found it to be a “gigantic disappointment” and were coming up with their own versions of how the epic story should’ve ended.
One fan started a petition that read:
“David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e. the books) to fall back on. This series deserves a final season that makes sense. Subvert my expectations and make it happen, HBO!”
That petition has since gained over 1.6 million signatures!

Previously, many of the cast shared their own thoughts and opinions about the petition. Now, HBO president Casey Bloys is stepping in to have his say.
During the Television Critics Association summer press tour, Casey addressed all the negativity surrounding the final season of the series.
“There are very, very few downsides to having a hugely popular show,” he said. “But one I can think of is when you try to end it, many people have big opinions on how these characters’ stories should come to an end.”

The HBO president also added that reshooting the final season of Game of Thrones was “not something we seriously considered.”
Despite receiving endless criticism, the series picked up 32 nominations at the upcoming Emmy Awards.
“Thirty-two Emmy nominations is certainly nice validation,” Casey noted.
