Moon lovers! Get ready to save the date because the super blood moon lunar eclipse is coming this month!
The super flower blood moon lunar eclipse will appear in the Malaysian night skies this 26th May and will be the ONLY total lunar eclipse to happen this year.
The moon will be the closest to earth, making it a “supermoon” and coincides with a lunar eclipse, making the moon turn reddish, turning it into a “blood moon”!
The entire lunar eclipse will occur for the span of around five hours from the beginning till the end as the moon enters the Earth’s shadow and will appear slightly bigger than usual due to the moon reaching perigee, the closest point in its orbit to earth.
According to timeanddate.com, the event will start around 4:47pm and end at 9:49pm, with the maximum eclipse taking place at 7:18pm on 26 May 2021.
“This total lunar eclipse is fully visible in Kuala Lumpur. The total lunar eclipse is sometimes called a blood moon, as the Moon turns red,” the website wrote.
The best place to view the lunar eclipse is at places with little to no artificial lights that have the clearest skies but you should be able to see the lunar eclipse as long as you’re on the night-side of earth!
So get your binoculars or telescope ready if you’re interested in seeing the moon’s features or your smartphone ready as you see the moon change colour during the lunar eclipse!
Let’s hope the weather is good that night…
Do you have friends or family that loves the lunar eclipse? Let them know!
