SZA has her sights set on playing Storm in a Marvel origin film. The Grammy-winning singer shared her dream role on The Jennifer Hudson Show, expressing her love for the superhero genre and her desire to bring the weather-controlling mutant’s story to life.

“You know how Storm has an origin story? Like, she comes from this whole other place where it’s like the jungle,” SZA said. “I think that would be so gnarly if I could be Storm. I love to bring the range.”
SZA’s love for superheroes runs deep—her father collects first-edition comics, and she grew up immersed in Marvel and DC. She has already been part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a way, collaborating with Kendrick Lamar on All the Stars for the Black Panther soundtrack.

Storm, previously portrayed by Halle Berry and Alexandra Shipp in X-Men films, is expected to return as Marvel integrates mutants into the MCU. With no actress officially attached, SZA may have a shot at bringing a fresh take to the role.
SZA recently made her feature film debut in One of Them Days with Keke Palmer. While new to acting, she says she’s eager to take on more roles and push her creative boundaries.
“It was wild, but I learned so much,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “I definitely need to build my confidence as an actor, but the experience was amazing.”
Could Marvel take notice and cast her as Storm? Time will tell.
