Taiping Is Now Recognized As The World’s 3rd Most Sustainable City!

Malaysia has been getting more and more international recognition over the years, and now another city in Malaysia is getting the spotlight!

Taiping has been ranked as the third most sustainable city worldwide at the 2019 Sustainable Top 100 Destination Awards!

The award that was recently held at the International Tourismus-Börse (ITB) travel trade show in Berlin, placed Taiping at third place behind Ljubljana, Solvenia and Vancouver, Canada in the “Best of Cities” category!

The category awards cities that shows leadership in urban sustainability and in avoiding disruptive over-tourism.

Taiping Municipal Council president Datuk Abd Rahim Md Ariff  said, “This is the first time we received a prestigious international award. This achievement is due to the hard work of the community and all relevant governmental agencies.”

taiping is now recognized as the world’s 3rd most sustainable city!

Not only that, Taiping was also listed as one of the 100 Sustainable Cities in December last year by Green Destinations, a non-profit organisation which focuses on efforts to create sustainable tourism, leading global cooperation between experts, firms and academy institutions in 80 countries.

Congratulations, Taiping! Let’s hope Malaysia can shine more globally in the future!
